About Mel
Hey there! I’m Melanie McGaughey. (Or if you don’t have all year to try and pronounce my last name, you can just call me “Mel”…
)

About Me…
- I’m a commercial, portrait, and nature photographer who just moved her home base from Franklin, TN to Houston, TX.
- I’m a twin. She got all the height and the hair and the photographic memory. But I’m not bitter…
- I’m a writer and am currently working on several books, one of which is for singles.
I know, I know… It’s been done before… BUT, this one hasn’t…
- I’m a complete health freak when it comes to food simply because I have to be. I know pretty much half of the staff at the local Whole Foods by name which is kind of sad if you think about it. And I have numbers for Whole Foods from Atlanta all the way to Tennessee plugged into my speed dial and GPS. Now that is sad…
- I’m a Nikon, PC, Blackberry chick and yes I realize how un-cool I just made myself and am fully ok with that…
- I have the best friends and family a girl could ask for…

About the Blog…
I’m often approached by amazingly talented photographers who want to sit down and just talk to somebody in the business. So I take every opportunity to listen to their stories and tell them mine over coffee. Being the “I’d lose my head it wasn’t attached” artist that I am, I may not be able to tell young photographers how to run their business, but I can definitely tell them what NOT to do. So this will be my platform to do that if you can’t make it for coffee!
And being the Photoshop addict that I am (the first step is admitting it) I’ll soon be providing Photoshop tips and tricks for both the professional photographer as well as those who just do it for the fun of it. Very excited about this part of the blog!
And for my non-Photographer and non-Photoshop photography loving readers (try and say that three times fast) I hope the blog will allow you to laugh along with me on this journey and get a glimpse into the lives of all the beautiful people I get to work with.
